Typhoeus

Prepare carefully. Take all the weapons and tools you need. It would be embarrassing to turn back halfway because you forgot something.

An outdoor trip must be properly planned. Be mindful of where you go, what you eat, and what you say.

Got a mission for me? Go on, say it.

Pop quiz: Is there any wild forage that you can eat raw? Ideally, none of them? Correct. You passed.

Thank you, but the wilderness also provides us with weapons. I can make arrows with branches. Would you like to see?

I'm not cold, and I don't fear any danger. All these pieces of gear are unnecessary. You'd be worried? Then... I guess I'll have them.

Dispelling the fog has revealed many things to us.

I think I'd prefer to be in the fight myself.

Alright then. I'm glad you're treating me as a good companion.

People say that earning your approval is a good thing, but it doesn't feel that special. I'll do whatever I can for you, no matter how you feel about me.

Recognition? Does that mean the same as your "approval" ... or that you trust me more now...? And do you trust my abilities, or me as a person?

Congratulations? I thought we've moved beyond flattery. A simple glance will suffice between good friends.

Endmin, I sought you out and fulfilled my promise. What about yours? Have you found a good story to share with me?

Prophecy has no hold on us. The ending is ours to write.

Legends aren't always too far off... They can happen right next to us.

I did learn how to operate machines, but my memories ... have melted away like snow in spring.

Myrkwood will rain today. Take an umbrella.

I wish you pleasant dreams.

I took a walk around the Bridge. People asked if they could play with my bow for a bit... Strange. Why aren't they afraid of me?

Why am I visiting? Nothing much. I guess I don't need a reason to come and see you, do I? Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll be taking my leave.

I met a lot of people after coming here. They shared many interesting stories with me. And yes, I've noted them down in a notebook, but I left a whole page blank for you — the last page. Now, you'd best give me a very long story.

Senior Endfielders at the Arsenal upgraded my arrowheads. They gave me a signal arrow that explodes in mid-air, forming a glowing Endfield logo. They said I could use the flare to signal Dijiang in an emergency. But I'm not afraid of danger or being on my own... This is my trial, and mine alone.

This place isn't like the other camps I've visited. There's no bonfire, snow, or trees. But when I fall asleep on the floor, I can feel a powerful heart that goes "Thump! Thump!" No, it isn't the pulse of the Land. It's the pulse of Dijiang itself.

I just had a dream and I couldn't go back to sleep. I saw the stars awake and heard them whispering to each other. What once sank will rise again. What still dreams will stir and wake. These will change Samivegr's fate... But when did the stars learn how to talk? It felt so weird. Hmm... Am I still dreaming?

Oh, I brought something from the north. Don't worry, they won't spoil. I preserved their beauty with my Originium Arts. Huh, your hands are freezing? Oh no, I should've been more thoughtful. *Hoo-hoo*... Alright, feeling warmer already?

Many thanks. I will take them wherever I go. Perhaps the future has a wonderful story lying in wait for us.

Calm down, Endmin. No need to panic. I will protect you. Now tell me, what made you so upset...? The giant, tied-up beast outside your door...? I hunted it down for you. On my own. Kept it alive, too. I spent several days lurking in the woods to bring it down. If you don't like it, I'll take it away. The hide is top quality, you know.

Stop moving, and bear with me. I'm almost done. I'll be taking you to a Sami ruin that has been sealed away for many years. You need proper protection against the injunctions and witchcraft. And don't wrinkle your nose. This is the smell of fresh earth and moss. You'll get used to it. Great. Now you smell like ... a proper Samifjod.

Cold? I'll add more wood to the campfire. The sleeping bags are laid out so just turn in and rest. I'll have the watch tonight. Hmm...? No, I'm not tired. I have herbs to keep me awake. Don't touch them! Do you want to sleep or what...? Uh. Sorry. I wasn't being mean on purpose. It's just ... the herbs have a strong smell. You really helped me a lot today, and I just want you to be properly rested.

No. I don't show my notebook to anyone. Not even if they ask really nicely. I've told you all the stories already, so you shouldn't be curious about it. Wait. You'll tell me a story about Yinglung Pass if I lend you the notebook...? Okay, but only for a bit... Who's the stick figure with a black square on its head? That's you. The stick figure holding a triangle? That's my bow! What are you talking about? Give back my notebook, now!

After leaving Rhodes Island, I traveled to all sorts of places and met different people. Every destination ended up like Samivegr. The characters would leave and their tales would gradually fade. I was alone, but I had gathered a huge trove of stories. The loneliness does not affect me... And I can hunt on my own. But the stories are so beautiful. They must be shared with friends and remembered. It would be a shame if I were the only one who remembers them.

Open up your hands. Here ... the berries of Myrkwood. They might be a little sour but try to keep it down. They'll make you lucky for an entire month.

People said you've not been sleeping well. Hang this Foldartal tablet by your bed. It will ward off unclean entities that try to sneak into your dreams. The runes say that the spell will grind any trespasser to dust, cast it into the coldest lake of Samivegr, and freeze it stiff forever.

Do not worry, Endmin. I spent years in the wilderness. Being lost is no longer a concern of mine. The stars, winds, and trees, all of them can point the way for me. And I don't think just sticking to the same direction means you'll never get lost. Take a look at the path beneath our feet. Always it spreads, and in all directions. New opportunities and discoveries await, no matter the way we choose to take. Have no fear. I will walk with you.

Your blade is dull? Give it to me. I have a honing stone. You've been negligent. That's not normal. Are you worried about something? Don't hide it from me. The eyes of a good hunter watch the prey, but they also watch out for their companions... Fine. Keep it to yourself, then. I know that certain experiences are not story material. They should not be told again nor reminisced upon.

No, I don't get it. Our battery is almost dry. Must you read this report by today? And no! You can't read with the moonlight. You'll strain your eyes. Make full use of the day with its sunshine, for the night is meant only for descending into darkness. Says who? Says every generation of wise Samifjod. Now look in my eyes. Tell me, Endmin, do I have to knock you senseless?

I was shocked when I learned that Feranmut Sami fell to protect our people. It's hard to imagine how we Samifjod could go about our lives without His protection. At the northern forts, I saw my people still hunting in the blizzard amidst His great carcass. In the fields of war, I witnessed our Snowpriests fighting the Aggeloi with everything they had... And I learned that He and His indomitable will remain with us. Oblivion comes not from death, but from surrender.

I know Amma. I remember Her. Only fragments of the ancient beast lord's legend survived on Talos-II. My people tried to remember, but She left us too soon and our memories were too unreliable... I tried to look for those who could recite the entire Ammataru, only to find a few lines and phrases. It's okay. We still have the bits and pieces. As long as we remember, they'll be like seeds ... and sprout into a whole, new legend.

The Oathkeepers are good neighbors, and that's a rare gem. We share campfires, weapons, Arts, and food with each other. Together we faced the cold, the northern winds, the Aggeloi, and the Ankhors. Their fallen became one with our permafrost, and their scions sprouted and grew in our forests. But they aren't us, and will never become us. No. We don't push them away. Our duties differ. Their crusades will end in triumph, but the Samifjod's hunt never ceases.

We are hospitable, mind you. But fighting off the Aggeloi and Ankhors is very frustrating. Worse, we got these "adventure seekers" coming in with their RVs and camp trucks. They wanna see how we angle for fins, hunt beasts, chop trees, make a big pot of stew at the campfire, sleep in the fire's warmth, then open our eyes to a new day ahead of us... It's just everyday stuff. What's so special about it?

The old shadows are now but a footnote in the history of Sami. Those tales are very old, like a wet notebook where the writings have become smudges of misfortune. That's why people don't really want to look deeper. Endmin, we've flipped through those pages of the past... Now we face enemies that can at least be seen.

Wait. I saw something there.

Instincts tell me to take a closer look around here.

Perhaps the unknown territory will give a different answer.

Danger ahead. Proceed carefully.

Precious minerals. Just take what we need. Don't be greedy.

I can help. A special technique can knock this bit off.

The generosity of fate.

Aurylenes ... it takes a hunter's skill to close in and catch them.

I hope it hasn't hurt any other living beings.

I feel ... more spirited.

You're wounded. I can help.

I'm much better now. No worries.

Watch out!

No. I'm far from spent.

Sorry, couldn't make it to the end.

Good job! I'm honored to travel with you.

Fighting as a team... I like it.

It's nothing. Just doing my part.

You're a great team too.

Don't panic. We can handle this.

Feeling the flow? Good.

I like how this ended.

Let's not enjoy our victory too much. We should be alert.

My story always has a place for everyone.

A story has its ups and downs. But those who endure can turn the next page.

We didn't give up, not even in the final moment. We mastered our fears, and that is the best ending.

Move.

Stay quiet.

Watch and strike!

No where to run!

Good timing.

The prey is now trapped.

Time to choose our prey.

It's over.

Don't resist!

You made a wrong move.

Quit scampering.

Coward. I'll pin you down.

No one escapes my sight.

You should fear me.
